WHO MAY AVAIL OF DUAL CITIZENSHIP?
- Natural-born Filipino citizens – citizens of the Philippines from birth without having to perform any act to acquire or perfect their Philippine citizenship:
(a) Those whose fathers or mothers are Filipino citizens at the time of their birth; and
(b) Those born before 17 January 1973, of Filipino mothers, who elect Philippine citizenship upon reaching the age of majority.
WHO MAY AVAIL OF DERIVATIVE CITIZENSHIP?
- Unmarried children under 18 years of age of those who reacquired Philippine citizenship
- Children aged 18 or older at the time of the parents’ reacquisition of Philippine citizenship, but was born when either parent was still a Filipino citizen
WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES UPON REACQUIRING PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP?
- Right to travel with a Philippine passport
- Right to own real property in the Philippines
- Right to engage in business and commerce as a Filipino
- Right to practice one’s profession, upon obtaining a license or permit from the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) to engage in such practice, or from the Supreme Court in the case of lawyers
- Right to vote overseas in Philippine national elections (for President, Vice President, Senators and sectoral/party list representatives)
REQUIREMENTS
ORIGINAL AND 3 COPIES EACH:
- Application Form
- Birth Certificate issued by PSA/NSO. (If Birth Certificate is not readable applicant may be required to submit the BC issued by the Local Civil Registry or if there is no record of the BC a Certification issued by the LCR)
- Original Marriage Contract issued by PSA/NSO
- Certificado Literal de Nacimiento issued by Registro Civil (with English translation)
- If married in Spain, Certificado Literal de Matrimonio issued by Registro Civil (with English translation)
- Latest Philippine Passport (copy of data page only)
- Spanish Passport (copy of data page only)
- DNI (back to back)
- Six (6) 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm photos taken within the last six months with white background
For minors (below 18 years) included in the petition, bring Original and 3 copies each of:
- Two (2) 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm’ photos taken within the last six months with white background
- Certificado Literal de Nacimiento issued by Registro Civil (with English translation)
- If born in the Philippines, PSA-issued Birth Certificate or Report Report of Birth
- Latest Philippine Passport (copy of data page only)
- Spanish Passport (copy of data page only)
- DNI (back to back)
Note: If the Philippine Passport submitted has been cancelled, the applicant will have to execute an Affidavit of Lost Passport.

- Original and one (1) photocopy of the Residence Permit (back-to-back)
- If applicable; Original and one (1) photocopy of the Dual Citizenship (Identification Certificate, Oath of Allegiance, or Order of Approval)
PREPARE ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION IF:
You intend to change your Civil Status from Single to Married:
- Original Marriage Certificate issued by PSA
- One (1) photocopy of the Data Page of the Passport of the husband
You intend to change your Civil Status from Married to Single:
- Original Birth Certificate of the applicant
- Original Marriage Certificate issued by PSA with annotation of annulment
- Original and One (1) photocopy of the Court Finality of the Annulment
You are a Seaman:
- Original and one (1) photocopy of the Data Page of the Seaman’s Book
- Crew List
- Letter from the master of the vessel / authorized agency
Note: For those applying for the FIRST TIME for their Philippine passport and are above 18 years old, the applicant will have to submit a Birth Certificate issued by PSA.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MINOR APPLICANTS (17 Y.O. AND BELOW)
- Personal appearance of minor and parent/s.
- Duly Accomplished Passport Application Form
- Original and one (1) photocopy of the Data Page of the Passport of the minor
- Original and one (1) photocopy of the Residence Permit (back-to-back) of the minor
- Original and one (1) photocopy of the Data Page of the Passport of the parents
- Original and one (1) photocopy of the Residence Permit (back-to-back) of the parents
- Original and one (1) photocopy of the Birth Certificate issued by PSA or Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Consulate or Embassy
- If applicable; Original and one (1) photocopy of the Marriage Certificate issued by PSA
- If applicable; Original and one (1) photocopy of the Dual Certificate (Identification Certificate, Oath of Allegiance, or Order of Approval)
Note: For those applying for the FIRST TIME their Philippine Passport and are below 18 years old, the parents will have to make the REPORT OF BIRTH prior to applying for the Passport.
