10 February 2022 – Casa Vicens, the first masterpiece of Antonio Gaudi, Barcelona´s architectural icon, hosts the exhibit of multi-awarded Filipina artist Nikki Luna entitled “Guerra”.  The exhibition is created exclusively for Casa Vicens.

This is the first time Gaudi´s first architectural wonder is hosting a Filipino artist´s exhibition.

The theme of Ms. Luna´s solo exhibit revolves around the unappreciated yet productive and positive role of women in society.  The installation artworks in her exhibit evoke a wide range of emotions as they symbolize the plight and journey of marginalized and vulnerable women, devoted and resolute mothers, and hardworking Filipino OFWs whose main goal is to provide for their families and all the sacrifices and heartache that go with it.

Ms. Luna’s artworks, which will be on display at Casa Vicens until 26 June 2022, draw from her ancestral roots in Batangas as well as events in her life that have helped shaped her advocacies in strengthening and empowering women, gender equality and migrants´ rights.

Ms. Luna studied at the University of the Philippines and at the Goldsmiths College in London. She has mounted her work not only in the Philippines but internationally as well and has represented the Philippines in exhibitions in New York, Cairo, Singapore, to name a few.   She is the recipient of numerous awards from prestigious institutions, the latest of which is the UK Chevening Award. Ms. Luna currently lives in the Balearic Islands.

The current owner of Casa Vicens shares the same advocacy as Ms. Luna and recognized and commended the latter’s work in promoting the rights of the underprivileged and marginalized members of society. END
