Consul General Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro welcomes Filipino participants to the MWC for the second year in a row
03 March 2025 — Over 60 top executives from the Philippines’ telecommunications and technology sectors gathered for a welcome reception ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, setting the stage for the country’s strong presence at the world’s largest connectivity event.
Hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona, the welcome cocktails brought together industry leaders from Converge, DITO, Globe, Smart, PLDT, AWS, Radius, Novare, and Ernst & Young Philippines, among others. The event provided a platform for networking and collaboration, reinforcing the country’s position as a dynamic player in the global digital landscape.
Philippine Consul General Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro warmly welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the significance of public and private sector cooperation in elevating the Philippines’ role in the international technology arena.
“The Philippines is home to a thriving digital economy and an innovative telecom industry. We want to bring the Philippines to the world stage, and strong collaboration between the government and private sector is key to making this happen,” Consul General Lazaro said.
Representing the Department of Trade and Industry was the Philippine Trade and Investment Center Madrid (DTI-PTIC), Commercial Counsellor and Head Althea Antonio, who highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering investment and innovation in the sector.
MWC 2025, taking place from 3 to 6 March 2025, will showcase the latest advancements in telecommunications and digital transformation. The Philippine delegation’s participation underscores the country’s growing influence in the global digital economy, as local firms engage with international partners to explore new opportunities and technologies.
