The Philippine Consulate General joined members of the Consular Corps of Barcelona in a security briefing led by the Mossos d’Esquadra, Catalonia’s regional police force, on 18 February 2025, at the Department of the Interior and Public Security in Barcelona. Mossos d’Esquadra Commissioner-Deputy Executive Chief Alícia Moriana (center, panel table) led the discussion, highlighting a 4.7% decrease in crime across Barcelona in 2024, with theft remaining the most common offense. The Mossos d’Esquadra also outlined plans to enhance security at ports, airports, and key tourist areas, acknowledging the vulnerability of foreign visitors to theft and robbery.
