Barcelona, Spain – The Philippine Consulate in Barcelona successfully conducted its fourth legal clinic on Saturday, 27 April 2024, focusing on critical aspects of Spanish immigration law including arraigo familiar, arraigo laboral, and arraigo de formación. This event is part of the ongoing Gender and Development program aimed at empowering the Filipino community in Spain by providing them with crucial legal knowledge and resources.

The clinic was attended by 20 individuals, predominantly women, who showed great enthusiasm and engagement throughout the session. The presentation was led by Attorney Manuel Silva from MSM Legal Consulting, who boasts extensive experience in Spanish immigration law and special cases of the Filipino community. His expertise provided invaluable insights into the complex legal landscape of Spain, ensuring that attendees left with a clearer understanding of their rights and options.

This initiative underscores the consulate's commitment to ensuring that Filipinos in Spain are well-informed and supported in navigating their legal rights and responsibilities. As part of this ongoing series, two more clinics have been scheduled for the coming months. The next session will take place on Saturday, May 25, focusing on labor rights, followed by a session on Saturday, June 22, which will focus on understanding Arraigo Social.

Consul General Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro stated, "Our legal clinic series is an essential part of our mission to support and empower our kababayan here in Spain. These sessions are designed not only to inform but also to engage and empower our community, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to thrive. We are committed to continuing these efforts and encourage everyone to participate in the upcoming events."
