09 January 2023 - As part of the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Barcelona's continuing efforts to encourage Filipinos in Barcelona to engage in sports and fitness activities, it participated in the 12th Barcelona All-Filipino Basketball Tournament Veterans Division Season 2023.

Philippine Consul General in Barcelona Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro let the center toss, with players from participating teams, to signal the satr of the games.

The PCG also joined the tournament with its own basketball team composed of its own personnel and their family members, as well as friends from the community. A total of seven Filipino community basketball teams are taking part in the competition, which will run until May this year.

The Consulate's participation in the tournament is one of the many ways it seeks to foster closer ties with the Filipino community in Barcelona, which has brought their love for the game in the city.
